![]() Rather than Wendy being an annoying way to move the plot along, she’s the reason for everything. Their dynamic really pulls it together for me. Jeremy Sumpter (Peter) and Wendy (Rachel Hurd-Wood), have a beautiful, innocent chemistry. They cast Native American people for the parts of the “Indians” and they spoke Iroquois, I understand.įinally, I think what is lost in so many adaptations, perhaps even the original play, is the romance between Peter and Wendy. When George and Michael are found in Neverland by Tiger Lily, she’s awesome and George is a ridiculous Edwardian gentleman. (A chance to see George MacKay as a cute kid). The Smee to his Hook is amazing! So funny! Darling, somehow doing what you’re expected to, but wishing for more, and less, at the same time. He captures the existential crisis that is becoming an adult and aging, looking for success, or someone to blame for lack thereof. In terms of character development, Jason Isaacs’ Hook is remarkable. The budget for sets must have been crazy. From a technical standpoint, it has beautiful cinematography and an excellent score. Peter Pan had an amazing cast, down to the children (see: George MacKay of “1917” as Curly, Jason Isaacs of “Harry Potter,” Olivia Williams and Lynn Redgrave). ![]() I believe it was completely looked-over because Pirates of the Caribbean came out at the same time and was a breakaway success. ![]() It’s a shame this hasn’t become a classic in the family-friendly genre.
